me and some friends went shooting today and i had my buddy shoot my new 19. well a little later he was shooting his 40 cal and he fired it once and it sounded like a .22 and didnt eject the case. i looked at the gun, dropped the mag out to see 9mm in it. the case was bulged big time and i feel he was very lucky. but i have the case as a reminder for him next time. he is new to guns but he had to be in a daze to load 9mm. when i realized what happened i almost crapped my pants.

Sounds like someone needs instruction, fucking ASAP.

But don't take a course with Clint Smith or Larry Vickers.... I'd feel guilty knowing my suggestion puts them in danger.

He is "new to guns"? That should have never happened. Next time you take a new guy to the range WATCH HIM!

That'll be good for the rifling, his accuracy etc...

Brilliant.

Sometimes I wish Darwin worked faster.

he got a foot in the a$$ for it. its not his first time shooting but he does not know a lot about guns either. i learned today to keep an eye on him i could have seen if i had my 19 mags loaded laying around near his and accidently grabbed one, but even that is hard not to notice! but he laoded a full 13 round mag with 9mm!

So I hate to see it when you guys do make a mistake!!!!

I shot a 9mm out of G-22, sounded very strange, I put red tape on my G-22 mags after that day.

I once loaded a .45 in my .40 mag. Luckily I was paying some attention and realized somthing looked funny and took a better look. (doubt it woulda chambered anyway)

i knew something was wrong when i heard it shoot. i figured on a weak load and maybe a stuck bullet in the barrel at the most

Well.................yeah...................

Definitely keep an eye on all noobs at the range. Definitely watch this with Glocks, it can all look the same sometimes.........obviously.

I assume it could've been worse, say, with a very hot load of 9mm. Glad it wasn't any worse.

You'd never have gotten it even close to being chambered.

I was one of the guys at the range (testing out my new AR). I can say an eye was kept on him after this. He was definitely lucky, those casings were distorted to hell.

Uhh where do you guys shoot? Sounds like a place I don't want to be. J/K,J/K.
Anyway, stay safe and keep an eye on all new shooters.

I took a plstle course and the instructor went over EMERGENCY situations where a firearm can shoot other ammunition other than what it is designed to .
obvious r 357 mag to 38 spl .
22lr to 22 short
9mm par to 9mm kurz ( .380)
44 mag to 44 spl
I am sure there others

Note I am not recommending this but it can be done
Also it is almost always the Larger calibre gun firing the smaller cal ammo

as with the 40 cal shooting the 9mm

BE CAREFUL

I was at the range one day some out there had a 9mm in there bulk pack the glock shot it and hit the target side didn't come back no one was hurt and glock was fine. I would not want to do it myself. I told him he was a lucky man

Hey I did that at LFI. Gail, Mas' wife was laughing at me which hurt. At confession time several of the instructors told my they had done the swme. That's the problem with identical handguns in different calibers. One of them showed me how to protect against it. I kryloned one of the frames a subdued but different color and then used a silver marker to tag the middle of the grip. Then I colored the bottom of the 40 mags with the silver pen.

not my pics...these were snagged on AR15.com quite some time ago, and purported to be a 9mm fired through a .40S&W Glock
