Just bought a glock 27 to use for home defense and every day carry. What is the best brand of ammunition to use?

Look at reviews on various websites and try some out just to be sure. Really, any modern hollowpoint will do the job, and you'll likely not be able to find much difference in them.

Ranger T-series.

In Home - Federal Guard Dog ( designed to not penetrate walls, etc. as much - if that counts for you in-home)

carry - Winchester PDX-1, Hornady Critical Duty

They're all pretty good, IMO

Gold dot 165 grn's are good. 155 grn's would give a bit less penetration which could be a + for HD.

All these are going to do the job.

I used to use Federal Hydrashocks.

Now I use federal Tactical Bonded.

Gold Dots, Ranger T, or HST. Take your pick.

+1. Most LE agencies in my area use this. Google the pics of the rounds after penetration, and make the decision for yourself. There is nothing I've seen that blossoms like the HST, while retaining its weight.

X2
However a 180gr may be better suited for recoil purposes in a G27.

The key- most any modern quality hollow point will do the job- is to find a round that is reliable in your gun. With the scarcity and cost of ammo today it may just be what you can find. Even glocks which are on my short list of guns that are most likely to run with hollow points can have some guns run one type of ammo and choke on another. Running a minimum of 100 rounds of your defense ammo malfunction free ( a lot of people say 200 or even 500) is a minimum I would accept

even these are hard to find. I don't keep defense loads more than a year or so. I shoot them up and replace after carrying them more than a year. Right now I have corbon 165 gr. Its all I could find locally. I'll buy some more rangers when they come in.
