 Glock carbine...my project

Hello,
was hoping to get your opinion on this project, I know its more of a "pistol Carbine"
but I was just wondering what you fellow Glock pistol shooters think of it.

I've been kicking this around for a long time,I'm not a big fan of a using pistol ammo in a AR15, so this is my definition of a perfect pistol carbine, for me anyway.

The Beretta CX4 storm upper is perfect, but the lower, well, suck's, all my hand guns are Glock's, so, I need it to run on Glock magazines, but I was thinking, why not take it one step further, the CX4 storm stock is not only ugly but is non-retractable.
The Beretta storm lower receiver isn't a FFL item ( the factory info is located on the upper), also, all CX4 storm uppers ( 9mm, .40 and .45 ) are interchangeable with one lower, they use a sleeve that inserts in to the pistol grip to use the different Beretta magazines, but they just don't work well for me ( magazines and the stock),

Well, what I have in mind is having a lower receiver for a Beretta storm machined out,..using aluminum maybe?
The pistol grip would be the same (internally) as the Beretta so the existing fire control group could just be used.
Also, I was thinking, how bad ass would it be to have a lower that had a retractable stock (something like the HK XM8 as a example), have it use all 3 type Glock magazines G17, G22 and G21 ( 9mm .40 and .45 ), then I could just switch uppers ( I would SBR them as well).

What do ya think?
Do ya think it would work?
Do ya think the bolt hold open and magazine release would work with the Glock mags?
Do ya think I'm I nut's?

look at a Mech Tech carbine for a simpler solution, and most that I've seen seem to run pretty well

Not that I do it, but what's wrong with shooting pistol ammo through ARs?? Our local gendarmes are issued whatever ,model # the Colt with three-shot burst 9mm is.

mech-tech is the best way to go. I have one in 10mm and they use the lower to your glock. I have 1000rd threw it with out no problems.

1 - It's a whole lotta work to come up w/ something that will work as well as a Kel-Tec or Mech-Tech, when you could just buy enough Beretta mags & call it done.
2 - If you put enough time & money into it.
3a - If you put a lot more time & money into it.
3b - If you can't get the magazine release to work, then you have utterly failed @ #2. 3b is a requirement for #2 to be complete. 3a is optional.
4 - No, I think you haven't yet considered the advantages of Kel-Tec or Mech-Tech - browse these two sites & get back to us when you're sober:

I've been thinking about the Kpos or Roni Glock conversions. But unless you find someone making a 16 inch barrel ,it'll be another $200 for the stamp

I thought I had seen every mod for a Glock, until now.

It would be easier to convert a Ruger PC9/PC4 to use Glock magazines, than to convert a Beretta CX4 to accept Glock magazines.

Ruger PC4 Glock magazine conversion

Or why not get a Just Right Carbine?

Wouldn't the barrel tipping up and then back down during recoil be bad with a barrel that long? Seems like the weight that far forward would put a lot of stress on the frame and slide when it starts bouncing up and down.

MGI makes a quick detach magwell for their HYDRA AR-15 platform and can take UZI and Glock magazines. A complete rifle is around $1200 including the magwell. The barrels are quick detach as well, and you can use any AR-15 9mm barrel for it as nothing is proprietary except the retention system for the barrel nut.

Thanks for all the suggestion,
The 'just right carbine" is interesting but the buffer tube is a turn off, as well as a lack of sights.
I'm trying hard to like the Ruger PC9/40,using Glock magazines with it is very interesting, as for the rest, well I'll be honest, they are just butt-ugly, IMHO.
I'm currently talking to a machinist about the project, we are ( at lest I am) trying to keep it simple, pehapes utalising the Robinson XCR butt-stock on the machined out pistol grip, but its not going to be easy to say the least.

Yes I think you are nuts. Buy 20 $20 Beretta mags and shoot the Storm. You will save a lot of money. Here is another G mag option:
