Carrying a "cased" weapon in public
I'm a tad bit confused right now, I have been reading the AZ statutes that have to do with storage and carrying of firearms but have a few questions.
I am under the age of 21 so Open carry is the only way I can carry my pistol at the moment. What are the laws when it comes to a person under 21, carrying a cased weapon around? The reason I ask is that sometimes I want to have my pistol with me but not always carry it. I have a small bag with a holster inside it. Would it be legal to carry the pistol, unloaded with no magazine in it in that bag with a loaded magazine in a separate pouch?
Basically, would carrying an unloaded pistol in a zipper closed bag be considered conceal carry still? Or would it be considered transportation? I honestly won't do anything illegal here, so if it is illegal, I won't do it.
Thanks guys!
Why and where do you want to carry it? Look at Arizona statutes 13-3102 and read it a few times to see what applies to you.
It's really going to depend on who (in the very small chance) is interrogating you and their definition of luggage and understanding of the law.

Thanks,
I would usually have it in the car with me in the back or front seat or when I'm on a hiking trip. I wouldn't plan on carrying the small pack into a grocery store.
Get your Maine non-resident permit. You can get it at 18 and AZ honors it.

I lied. yes they do.
So Washington won't recognize a Maine non resident CCW?
neither washinton or maine & (most in ne) do not recognize az ccw.
I'm going to call DPS Monday to confirm everything.

Washington will not recognize a Maine non resident CCW. Arizona will though.
I am not going to attest to the laws in AZ. In Oklahoma if you have a pistol stored, it can still considered loaded if you have a magazine with rounds in it (doesn't have to be in the gun). While, like others said, it depends on who is asking the questions, I would err on the safe side and refrain from loading the mags while in transport.

That would only work if he was a non AZ resident. AZ does not honor out of state permits for residents.

Well shit, that sucks. Utah allows it and that's the route I chose instead of OC.
