My wife surprised me with this S&W 642-1 for my birthday.
My question is, what is the best way to carry moon clips?
I tried speed loader pouches but they are way to big and the 5 shot moon clips get turned every which way but up. So far I have been carrying them in my coat pocket but I am looking for something that will allow me to carry them on my belt. Any ideas?

I personally think for defensive use the best way to go is to have a moon clip in the revolver for the initial load and use speed loaders for your reloads. My logic is that the moon clip in the gun will eliminate any chance of rims getting caught under the extractor star if you have to reload. My reasoning for carrying reloads in speed loaders or speed strips is that moon clips can be bent and I haven't seen a good method to carry them that protects them to my satisfaction. If you end up being body checked into a wall, get away from your attacker and have to reload a bent moon clip will keep your cylinder from closing. Heaven help you if you need to strip rounds from a bent moon clip to try and single load during a gun fight!
That is why when I carried a S&W 625 once upon a time I carried speed loaders with .45 auto rim hand loads for my reloads.
YMMV.

That is something I never really thought about. I have been carrying 5 lose rounds in the gun and the moon clips in my pocket.
I see your point, if one of the moon clips gets bent in the realm of edc I am SOL.
Thanks for the input.
I just carry one loose speed loader in my pocket along with one speed strip. The speed strip is anything but speedy, but the speed loader will at least give you another 5 shots in relatively short amount of time. The speed strip is then intended to be used to top off ammo after the fight is over.
