New Draco
I picked up a draco yesturday. I was "playing" with it last night after work and when I took the top cover over I started freaking out a little because I though it was covered in rust. But it is just the grease. It had a red tinit in the light so I thought it was rust. Anyway, seriously this thing looks like someone just dipped it in a bucket of the stuff so I was looking for a good way to get it all out. My first thought is I wish a had access to a parts washer but I don't. So what if I just break it all the way down (other than the internals because I don't want to try to remove and reinstall the guts) and just let it soak in a 5 gallon bucket of degreaser? Where I work our shop has buckets of parts cleaner and degreaser. Any advice would be great thanks.
Its an AK –– just wipe away as much as you can (or want) and go shoot it. Not going to hurt the gun.
I pulled the bolt/carrier and used carb cleaner and a toothbrush. Then made sure to oil it up afterwards.
I'd shoot it and worry about it later..

To those that said just shoot it. I'm not worried at all about the gun. I am not joking when I say this thing is FULL of the grease. If I went and shot it I would pant who ever is around me and myself with this crap. I was just looking for a good way to get it out of the gun.
Thanks
The last gun that had heavy cosmoline went to the car wash and I nailed it with the high pressure soap, gone in a jiffy !
Bu sure to get all the grease out of the bore before shooting.
Have Fun !!
Tip it upside down so the opening of the receiver is pointing down and use low constant heat and it should drip out

A $3 dollar can of brake cleaner from the auto section at Wally World will take care of this in a few minutes. GARY N4KVE
shallow pan + mineral spirits + paint brush. Works wonders. Just take the grip and hand guards off first.
