 Draco recoil spring?

Does the regular Draco take standard 7.62x39 recoil spring assemblies? Also, I was wondering how long everyone's recoil springs are lasting. Mine only has a few thousand down the tube (mix of wolf, brown bear, and yugo surplus) and it's starting to beat up the rear trunnion and the spring feels really weak.

All AK's will get contact marks on the rear trunnion from impact with the bolt carrier, from what i've experienced. As long as it's somewhat just surface marks you'll be fine. If it's really digging in you might have a problem?

Yes, they take standard 7.62x39 springs.....K-Var has them for around $7. I'm running a Black Jack buffer in my Draco....no problems so far, though I read of one other user here saying that running a buffer made his Draco malfunction.

That's me. I have buffers in 7 other AK's & they all work fine, but for some reason my Draco would have a FTE every 5th round. I removed the buffer, & the gun is now 100%. Strange. However, my trunnion has no marks at all from the carrier. And all these years I have praised a buffer in an AK. Well, seeing is believing. GARY N4KVE

Wolff makes springs for the AK47 and make a extra power spring too.

Actually think about one for the mini draco

spring

The problems with mini dracos cycling seems to be undergassing.....an extra power spring would make this problem worse, not better.

JFYI.

Glad you have seen the light, it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Perhaps I'm reading this wrong but the OP isn't talking about the mini but the regular Draco. Also he is concerned about the cycling being so hard that it's battering the rear of his gun. Plus wearing his spring out.

Re-read your own post....you said, "Actually think about one for the mini draco".....that's what I was responding to....not the OP.

Hope that clarifies it.

Thanks for the replies guys, I got a buffer for it and we'll see if that affects function at all, and if it does, then I'll just take it off and continue blasting with it since contact with the rear trunnion doesn't seems to be an issue.

Edited for update: Installed the buffer and ran a few mags through it this morning, and it still runs like a sewing machine.

If you have a "C" model Draco it was built from a used gun. Who knows how many rounds that springs actually has on it. If you have also fired a "few thousand down the tube" it may be time to replace the recoil spring. Springs are cheap and easy to change and need to be replaced BEFORE they cause problems.

BTW- I was about to post the EXACT same question regarding what recoil spring needed for a Draco.
