Beryl 5.56 Pistols
SHOT 2011 had demonstration of Beryl 5.56 Pistols. Are these anywhere near importation status yet or was their showcasing merely a preview of something that they could, potentially, manufacture sometime in the future?

Funky looking magwell on that one. Is that a STANAG mag?
I just drooled...
The rear sight/rail looks kinda retarded but I would TOTALLY buy that thing in a heartbeat if it came in at $600 or less. AK SBR that accepts AR mags? Yes freaking please!
From the pics in the SHOT thread the adapter is placed on top of the AR-15 magazine and the mag will not function without the coupler installed, meaning each magazine requires the adapter.

I sincerely hope that's not the case, or else what the hell is the point of accepting STANAG mags if the STANAG mags have to be modified with a coupler to work?

It is the case and I completely agree. I just want the gun!
IO inc is supposed to be the distributor, they are rumored to msrp around 1000, other than that, that I know of that is, not much is available, I contacted IO inc asking if they had a vague idea of when they might be available and nothing and I also asked atlantic firearms and nothing...
they need to import them in 7.62. the market is flooded for 5.56 pistol platform and the only thing we have in 7.62 is the draco. I know I would buy at least 2 if they made them in 7.62, but I dont think I'll get any in 5.56.
besides, mags, ammo are cheaper in 7.62 and in my opinion better ballistics out of the shorter barrel.
I honestly want nothing more than a 5.45 AK pistol to SBR, but I also have a lot of 5.56 laying around so I'd be interested in a 5.56 AK like this also. Magazine availability and cost would ultimately be the determining factor, though, and if an adapter is required to use the STANAG mags then I doubt I'd buy one, especially at or anywhere near the $1k price point.
If I had to guess I would say they would run about mid to high 800 dollar range, which really to compete with a krink isnt too bad...

A 5.45 AK pistol would mean no more 7N6 surplus 5.45x39. Al we would be able to have is the Wolf/Bear 5.45 ammunition, which would make 5.45 sort of pointless. The 5.45 pistol would result in 7N6 being reclassified as armor piercing pistil ammunition about the importation of it would be forbieen. Don't beleive me? Look at what happened with 7.62x39mm when the pricks at Olympic insisted on making a 7.62x39 AR pistol.
I want that STANAG adapter if it lets me use STANAG mags in my Norinco 84s.
ETA: NM
The funny thing is, that adapter looks like it is held in the receiver by the factory mag release. It looks like it has a built in mag release for the AR mag.
Not so sure I'd want one. I think I'd rather have a Kel Tec .22 Mag.
Already have a 7.62x39 pistol, so I'm good to go on that platform.

If it is the case, why is the adapter beveled where the mag inserts and why is there a mag release on the adapter? I think you were misinformed. Were the reps foreigners or Americans that didn't know what they were talking about?

no 5.45 pistols.
That would open a can of worms,.
Have you ever seen the velocity drop off in a .223 vs 7.62x39 in that length of barrel! The 7.62x39 is a much much better way to go. The .223 doesn't have much more energy than a 9mm.
