I'm posting because I don't know where to turn to regarding this one AK variant rifle part/accessory. Hopefully, someone can help - or at the least, maybe guide me to somebody who might know.
I just picked up a "like new - mint" Yugoslavian RPK-47 (an AK variant). It was originally imported and sold by Mitchell Arms in 90's.
I have two issues with it regarding to a scope mount - they are:
1. None of my AK-variant scope mounts that you typically can find anywhere fit this RPK-47 because the side rail is much too shallow in depth. Other AK side rails have a higher depth factor and as a result, most
AK scope mounts fit those types of side rails. But this RPK is different.
2. In addition, the side rail on my RPK-47 is mounted much higher up on the side of the receiver than regular AK variants. The distance from the center of the rail to the top of the receiver (dust cover) is approximately
1 inch and this means that regular AK scope mounts (if they did fit) would sit up too high, thus the scope would sit up entirely too high to make looking through it comfortable.
So what I'm desperately looking for is a scope mount that fits both the shallow side rail and also once attached is not putting the scope up too high above the receiver (dust cover) - in other-words, a lower profile type.
What scope mount can you recommend for this lower profile (shallow) rail mount? If not, do you know of any AK specialty outlets across the US that may be able to help me.
Thanking anyone in advance, I remain....

This is just a guess but try
Kalinka. You might have a hard time finding something to fit that rail but hopefully not. Good luck and thanks for serving, Master Guns!
