We have a reweld Post Sample RPD that used to run like a champ. It developed a stress fracture at one of the points where the new plates were welded in. Our previous gunsmith removed the plates and welded them back into place. Everything looked fine until I took it out for testing.
When fired, the carrier assembly recoils back but the locking lugs don't collapse back into the carrier and stay in the "open" position. The carrier then gets stuck with a bulge where the both locking lugs are pressing against the receiver.
Any ideas of what is causing this?
thanks,
Ron

Ron,
Contact Stan (aka Pirate) at www.projectguns.com. Stan Builds Semi and Post sample RPDs. I know he is leaving soon to make a business trip to Wise-Lite concerning some Semi-auto parts kits they are building for him.
