Just got off the phone with Mike at Nodak,

They don't know if & when another run might be made.

100 would be the minimum they would run & they were slow movers recently.

I need a reciever for my part kit!

Yeah, NoDak is sold out of the dedicated Tantal receivers. They are a hard item to find right now.

However, my understanding is that you don't absolutely HAVE to use the NDS-2T receiver to build your Tantal. I think you can use a regular NDS-2...it just won't be as "authentic", and it won't have the extra hole for the selector lever (that is purely cosmetic anyway).

I might be wrong about this, but I seem to recall reading this somewhere.

Can anyone say "group buy" on tantal recievers? Let's do it. I'm in for two.

Suppose one buys the NDS-2 for a Tantal build.....Couldn't you just cut the hole for the left side safety selector? If this is possible this would be just as authentic as the NDS-2T.....right?

I don't know, but I've got a gut feeling it probably isn't that easy.

Mine is built on an NDS-2. I'm not a purist and I put an AK 47 selector on mine.

I just walked into a local shop & they had a CAI Tantal on the rack.

Actually seemed built ok, I put a deposit down & will pick up next week! At lease I have a matching part kit for it!

.

Early Interarms/High Standard Tantals were all built on the NDS2 receiver and had standard (look like Bulgarian) selectors.

There's no overriding need to use the Tantal specific receiver unless you want the left selector. Just pick up a standard AK selector and build on the NDS2 receiver. Easier to install a standard AK scope rail, too. You won't need the Tantal specific rail.
