A guy told me he got this in Gulf War, off an Iraqi Soldier. Anyone know exactly what it is? Said it was on an AK that was confiscated, but obviously they had to destroy the AK's, but at the time, they could keep the bayonets. It sure doesn't look like it saw much use.

Any help is appreciated.-Sam

From what I remember, the Iraqis ended up with a lot of East German hardware

Older style Type 1 originally used with Type II and III AK47s.

Not a "Type I" as that's a different style bayonet.

That's an "M1947" bayonet which is also referred to as a "First Model" or "First Type" bayonet.

The "Type I" is the model such as the common Romanian ones with the bakelite or plastic handle with the bulbous end and a metal scabbard with a rubber insulator.
