guys, i didnt see anything reference prebans in the ak faqs- are all sporter-stock mak90 post-ban? is there a serial number cut-off or date stamp? looking at getting my first ak and i'm in ny... thx in advance.
Unfortunately, MAK-90's are considered "post-ban" hence the additional "MAK-90" stamp on them. Some were caught during the ban and may have escaped complete neutering on different things but most neutered after the ban were given a pretty good castration.

thx for the info- can anyone point me to a reference for id'ing pre-ban ak's?

Usually the ones don't have "Sporter" or "MAK-90" stamped on it. And normally the rifles will have its muzzle threaded and have the bayonet lug intact.
