i have a 3rd version wasr-10/63 (the one that comes with a bayo lug and threaded muzzle with the slant break)

if i remove the stock slant break (which is a non us part i think) and replace that with a US made birdcage flash hider, can i then legily put on a baklite romainian pistol grip to replace the shitty black plastic one????

does anyone know where to see a list of the us parts CIA uses for the wasr-10, do they maybe put on a few extra to allow room for you to replace the plastic black grip????

On mine, I had a welded muzzlenut and the US parts were:

Piston (1)
Pistol Grip (1)
FCG (3)

Apparently they don't mark their pistons as US-made, but they're sufficiently different from euro's that it's kosher (chromed rather than stainless). I replaced the muzzlenut with a US AK74 brake and rebuilt the bayonet lug. You have to have 6 US parts if you use a muzzle device, so I'm not sure what they use if the slant brake isn't US.

Just remember the magic number of *6* US parts when you use a muzzle device (EVIL flash hider or not).

thats what im trying to figure out, i know when you get a CIA wasr they obviosly have the correct parts, but i dont know what parts they are, so i dont know if the slant break that comes on it is a us part or not...if not them i would be ok, if the slant break that comes on it is US made then i cant put on the romainian pistol grip

Excuse a newbie question but what is this 6 US parts rule? I just bought a WASR10 as my first AK. I plan on adding to it over time but I'm guessing you can only replace certain parts or something?

*sigh* . . . I'm trying to figure out the very same thing for my WASR 10/63.

I was sort of hoping to see "TAPCO USA" in big letters on six easy-to-find parts, but it wasn't that simple –– the only Tapco marking I see is on the trigger.

I asked Century, and they told me: "I'm afraid I cannot provide an exact list of the content of a particular firearm. US parts are generally internal, so the issue would depend on what you wish to replace." Well, that's helpful.

The only marking I can find on my slant brake is a sort of flattened "C" –– looks something like a half-circle. So, I'm not sure if that's USA-made or not.

The only parts I know for sure are the three in the Tapco trigger group . . . .

Hellcat, look at the stickie at the top of the AK Reference page:

The slant break on the WASR is indeed a Century part.
If you don't like the stock pistol grip, check out the several
US made alternatives.

Just for future reference, after learning a little more and doing some reading, here are the parts that I believe are U.S.-made on the WASR 10/63:

- Slant brake
- Gas piston
- Pistol grip
- Fire control group (3 parts total)

So of course, replacing any of these parts will require that another U.S. part be installed.

If you want to change the pistol grip, i would just change the mag follower, & floorplate then you will have more than enough compliance parts to do it.
