Finally got it...with questions
After being delayed for 3 days, I finally brought home my New (and first) CAI Golani/Galil. I'm impressed with the fit, but not s much the finish. The dust cover is solid with 0 play and the same goes for the stock in both positions. The front sight was a little off but I think it will straighten with some adjustment. It's not really canted, rather the adjustable portion wasn't oriented with the base properly and I'm hoping this won't be a huge issue. I smoothed out the safety a little so it's workable with just the thumb switch. One mag was in perfect condition, but the other was covered in cosmoline and has the remnants of camo paint on it. The internals look good and after some struggling I got the dust cover back on. The finish...well....I'm pretty sure it has parts that are spray painted i.e. the stock and some of the finish came off the reciever and dust cover just from CLP and a rag. I already resprayed the stock. The tritium vial up front is kind of glowing and the rear vials are missing. The reciever has a GLN prefix and is in the 3800 range, which I've read is desirable. The PG has been sand blasted, but I'm going to try to sand it with fine grit and spray it. I traded my Iver Johnson M1 Carbine to my FIL who ordered the Galil for me. So, how does it sound like I've done so far. I may be able to make a range trip on Friday or possibly tomorrow if the rain dissipates. There was some dirt and sand looking junk in some crevices...maybe some of Israel came with the rifle?
So..
Maintenance...I greased the bolt rails on the receiver and the groove for the bolt on the carrier and CLP'd the rest. Sound OK?
Can I treat this as an AK and not worry about cleaning it after every range trip besides cleaning the barrel?
What does the ejector look like? In other words, is it fitted correctly or has it been welded(you can tell by looking at it from the bottom via the mag well). If it's been welded, keep an eye on it. If the brass is beating the crap out of it during ejection and the angle of ejected brass changes over the first couple of hundred rounds, contact Tenngalil. That being said, I have a #GLNxxxx receiver that has a welded ejector, but it's holding up fine.
Let us know how it shoots. Best of luck!

That being said, looking through the magwell, nothing is welded.

That's the best news possible. A sticky chamber, tight dust cover, wobbly stock, and other typical Golani problems can all be easily fixed(even a dope like myself can do it

), but a welded and annealed ejector is a back-breaker. Glad to hear that yours is order.
Clean your mags inside out REALLY good...

Yeah, the "good" mag is in perfect working order and condition, but it obviously used from the wear marks around the feed lips. The other mag spent a few hours soaking in dawn and then a good scrubbing to get all the cosmoline out. Both mags have Hebrew markings so I guess that's a plus.
