So I got bit by the bug and got a Golani. I here did my research and on uzitalk and it helped a lot. Thanks to everyone on both boards for all the info. I narrowly avoided doing a trade for an early GAL which wasn't fixed and knew what to look for when I got my GLN023xx today. Everything is in order except that the front sight is slightly canted. If it won't zero with adjustment the I'll pop the pins and redo it. I've built a few AK's and AR's so it's not a new thing to me. Here is a pic:

I tried to order a MSA AR mag adapter but their checkout is messed up. What's the deal with this company? If anyone has one for sale then let me know.

Thanks again!

EDIT: Looks like I don't need an adapter anymore. I e-mailed Magnolia this evening and to my surprise Nathan replied and let me know how to get my order though. I'm shocked that anyone is working Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. That's very cool. I'm hoping my adapter gets here as quick as my e-mail was replied to

ya, good luck with Nathan and MSA. I ordered from him last Fall and never saw any product shipped and he wouldn't repond to emails/phone calls/PM's, etc. I ended u having American Express cancel the charge and they refunded my money. Go over to Galiltalk.com and you'll see how many people ordered from him a year or two ago and never got anything. He's still trying to make good on their orders.

I'm hoping he's gotten past his problems and isn't blowing smoke about getting the back orders filled and having enough in stock for future orders in the current run. It's weird that he can't ship to people that paid a year ago and there are sites out here listing 20+ in stock.

I did hedge my bets and just ordered a few 35 round mags from Midway so I'll have something to shoot.

I had done the same thing. When I first learned about the adapters all I could think was "Aww sweet. Now I can use my AR mags in two guns! Life is grand!" Then I read all of the business problems and lack of communication and decided to just buy more Galil mags and I am glad I went that route as the adapter itself costs as much as a good size pack of mags.

I took the Golani out yesterday and put 80 rounds through it. The magazine was messed up as the tips of the rounds would hang up on top and I had to file it down to get them to clear it so they would be pushed to the top of the mag. It looked like it had been dented at some point. Then it wouldn't chamber every time which I'm hoping is just another mag issue which would be that the back tab is too thin, allowing some slop and not putting the mag flush with the rails inside. The other things it could be are either the mag catch is out of spec or the bottom of the bolt is worn out and won't catch every round as it passes them. I'm hoping that the mags I ordered and the MSA AR mag adapter will fix it. There was a spot where the bolt smacked the outside of the locking lugs hard and left a mark on both parts which I think occurred when the bolt was riding over a high round it missed and came into the chamber out of alignment.

Once the 1st round was chambered it did OK with only an occasional stoppage. It chambered well, ejected nicely about 10 feet forward and to the right. The groups were about 4 inches to the left at 50 yards and 6-8 inches to the left at 100 yards which is easily adjusted when I bring a screwdriver with me next time. I used Silver Bear FMJ's and HP's and it did better with consistently feeding the FMJ's than the HP's, although the HP's didn't snag on the chamber which is a good sign.

In all, I'm happy with it and hope it's a simple matter of having a bad mag. The other issues can be fixed, but take $. I knew that a Century tends to be buggy going into it and was prepared to have to do some tweaking to make it run right.

The mags came in today from Midway. 3 were like new parked and one was well worn painted. The new mag have a lot of up and down and side to side wobble. The old one locked up tight.

I cycled some rounds through it and the old mag functioned 100% while the new ones aren't feeding the round on the left side of the mag (under the ejector). The bolt is barely passing over the round and will catch it when I push up on the mag. The hammer really pushes up on the bolt carrier and I think that contributes to the problem.

Any ideas?
