Or you could get a quad rail from ‘FAB Defense’ with an extended top rail

Hmmm now I wonder if this will fit a Galil AR with the 18 inch barrel. Anyone know? I might just call DSA, my Galil doesn't have the bipod, it's the typical CAI Sporter.

Yes. The handguard is the same on a Galil AR as on the SAR version.

I didn't see a price for the DSA rail. Did anyone check on the price?

DSA is the only place that carries B&T stuff on a consistent basis that I've seen. Its pricey. I'd expect to pay in the area of $400 for their Galil rail.

I'd rather spend the money with an American company and pick of the Troy Industries Battle Rail:

For my needs, I only want something like an Ultimak railed gas tube. My google-fu must suck today. Does anyone know who might make one that fits the Galil? (Please, not Blackthorne, please.)

Botach used to carry a gas tube rail for the Galil, but it wasn't rigid enough for optics mounting.

Only want to mount an Aimpoint M2...bummer that Botach's was not rigid. You would think the Ultimak folks would make one, they have some for other, lesser platforms. Thanks for the info.

Shoot them an email. There are a lot more Galil owners out there now than there used to be thanks to the Century Golani.

Blackthorne products has the railed tube. You will need to hand fit it to your galil to ensure the rigity.

I had one that required very minor fitting. Solid mount for an Aimpoint.

My comment was based on the two that I own. One required filing the rear lug, the other needed filing where the tube contacted the front handguard retainer.

Go slow it doesn't take much for the mount to be loose.

Thanks to both who replied with hands-on experience.

I contacted UltiMAK about a Galil railed gas tube. The reply was that one would be considered since traffic requesting one was on the rise. Currently they are putting the finishing touches on a mount for the M1 Garand.

When that hits their website you need to post a link here for all the Garand traditionalists.... tell 'em you're gonna put it on a mint '55 H&R or something like that and sit back and watch the heads explode.
