Specifically, if someone was looking for an AK in 223 vs a Galil / Clone in 223.

They seem to be very very similar to me... comments?

Same great reliability as an AK
More accurate
Vertical cocking knob on bolt carrier, can cock w/ either hand
Milled receiver vs- stamped(most AK's) receiver

Now I'm comparing the IMI (not a Century built Golani) to the AK.There is a difference in Quality.

It all boils down to personal preference,I like the Galil.

Forgot to mention about the Galil:

Milled receiver (if you think it makes a difference) with scope mount slot milled into it already.
Left side selector (still has right side seletor too).
Folding stock that DOESN'T SUCK
Bayo that folds into the front grip and doesn't wobble. Also the bayo lug doubles as a bottle opener.
Built in night sights are standard equipment
Longer sight radius/peep sights

I think that's it for now.

The only thing I don't like about the Galil is the stupid mag catch but I can live with it.

I personally prefer the looks of the Galil over the AK, but I like the AK reliability which the Galil also has.

The problem for me was that I have rifles in 5.56mm so I wanted one in 7.62x39 and the only choices was Century. Now that problem is solved since I'm having a Galil kit built by a competent gunsmith in the 7.62x39mm.

Also, I'm a noob as well, but from what Ive read the Galil is a bit more accurate than the AK.

how does a regular AK's folding stock suck... in fact what is the designated AK folding stock? My AK has a folding stock that is much more rock-solid than must solid buttstocks I have ever used, it sure as hell was a lot better than the Golani I picked once, but that isn't saying much anyways

With the exception of the side-folding stocks, each AK folder sucks in it's own way.

What type of folder do you have? You didn't say......

If you have an underfolder, then it sucks because a decent cheek-weld is painful, and the underfolders will wobble soon after you actually start shooting them.....

Yeah the AK triangle folders and the newer solid butt folders pretty much rock on AK's. But most of the other wire side folders and under folders are painful to use and they can get wobbly quick.
