Need Advice to purchase a LEGAL Galil in CT
Hi all,
I'm interested in purchasing a Galil, the only problem is that I live in CT.
The first question is were there any Galils brought into this country prior to 94 that were not model AR or ARM. The CT AWB names the AR and ARM specifically.
If there are pre-94 models , can you give me any names or model numbers.
If the rifle was made after 94, then I have to contend with the "evil features" part of the law, so even if it is not called a Galil (like a Golani), if it has a folding stock, bayonette lug, OR a threaded muzzle, I can't have it legally.
Any and all advice is appreciated.
Don
p.s. I understand that worst case I could buy a Golani, have the stock pinned, lug removed, and flash hider silver soldered on, but I would like to be able to use a suppressor with it and a threaded muzzle is a plus for me.
p.p.s. If you have any thoughts on buying an old galil receiver, please let me know.
bueler??
Hmm. I guess this isn't the place to get an answer, or its too difficult a question.
If it was a stupid question, I'd at least hope for some ridicule.
Try asking at uzitalk.com forums, maybe somewhere there will know.
You should be able to get an answer to your question here;

The threaded muzzle is a no-no, as is the suppressor. I believe the sound suppressor is legally considered a flash suppressor as well, so you simply can't put it on a post-ban.
If you want to post-bannify a Golani, you are going to need to have a compensator permanently attached.
I believe this is precisely why a lot of guys here want prebans... JUST to use a suppressor.

Try these guys

Smallest, but best gun store in CT. They know evil-looking rifles well, and are known to get pre-ban stuff in. If anyone in CT can get you what you are looking for, it would be these guys.
I don't know what the deal is with them personally. CT's EBR laws are all sorts of unclear. I think you will be limited to a pinned/fixed golani though. Best bet is to call JoJos.
and clean out your PM box
