Has anyone used the Romanian 150 grain surplus in their M76? Just curious how it performs. It's MUCH cheaper than the other ammo.

buy the 190 stuff. I bought 2 tins of the 150 Romy and it's all over the place in my M76, check out the post below AWO M76 review.

Same here. I shoot the Romy out of my M24/47 now.

I haven't found the 190 grain stuff unless you mean the 196, or 198 Prvi ammo. I was told all the Yugo stuff was very inaccurate. Do you have a link to the ammo you're talking about? I'd like to run the rifle this comming weekend.

196, I was generalizing. Gunbroker is the only place I have found it in stock. Waiting on AIM to get more in stock. I have heard nothing bad about yugo and accuracy though...

Thats the stuff I've been looking at. I was just hoping someone knew of a cheap surplus ammo I could run through it that was decent.

You know Wideners has it for the same price. I just ordered half a case.

I know it's not cheap but I am buying a few batches of the good stuff for the brass to reload. I have thousands of rounds of that 1950s Yugo. One day I will pull the bullets as they have beautiful 198gr boat tails.

I have used this . . . PRVI AMMO 8x57 MAUSER 198gr FMJBT from PRVI at Grafs Price is up a couple bucks a box though.

Anybody try this . . . . PP8MMFMJ PRVI 8MM MAUSER 198GR FMJ $14.95/ 20 from PPU at Wideners

What is the difference between PPU branded and PRVI branded?

PPU and PRIV are the same: PPU = PRVI PARTIZAN UZICE; see http://www.prvipartizan.com/

AIM Surplus has a well.

I shot the PPU FMJ out of my AWO M76 with no issues; fed fine (no bullet guide needed). I am keeping my 1980's Romy and Yugo cases sealed for now.

BTW - AWO is warning customers not to use 1950's Yugo in the rifles due to some reports of overpressure causing failures; don't believe the problem was with their guns so they are just being safe.

The 50's Yugo ammo has numerous cases of case failures. This is when the case cracks open at the primer/rim and large amounts of pressure will escape. In a semi auto it can mess up your rifle real bad, and maybe you too. Very similar to the Israeli TZ80 stuff that was messing up FAL and HK rifles. On K43 forum picture of nice rifle w/ crack in receiver due to a failed case. Most of this ammo is fine, but their are definitely lots which were bad, and bad the day they were made. Friend of mine had one give on his FN49, and it broke the stock on his rifle. Seems the worst are from 53 to 56, w/ 55 seeming to have the highest number of failures people have posted on boards.

PPU is supposed to be bringing in match-grade 8mm this summer.

So I wonder what the difference is between the two types of 198gr FMJBT ? Significant price difference.
