Yugo M70B1 by Century
I have a Yugo M70B1 on a Nodak Spud receiver from Century, that I am quite proud of. Century either farmed these out or had their best monkey on this one as it is probably the best example of a Century firearm I have ever seen. Fit & finish are good, no jams whatsoever in about a thousand rounds, straight sights, & and it hits dead on at 50 yards out of the box. It did have terrible slap that I have recently fixed by installing a Texas AK trigger group that I really like. My question on this weapon is what US parts came on this weapon? For 922R it would need (6) with a muzzle device, My guess is:
Receiver
trigger
hammer
disconnector (all 3 were Century "C" marked)
pistol grip
barrel (most people say these are Green Mountain US made, I honestly don't know)
The gas piston does not say USA, so I am assuming that it is original Yugo. Anyone know for sure? Also I wonder why they chose to use the aftermarket grip & not stick with the original Yugo grip?
Also I didn't get a sling with mine, no accessories whatsoever. I'm use to getting slings, oil bottles, cleaning kit, etc. with an AK but not on this one. Would like a GOOD Yugo sling, what I have seen are crap.
The piston is Yugo.
The slant brake is a wildcard, could be Century or surplus depending on the individual rifle.
Your US parts list is accurate. Recent Century B1s had Ironwood butt stocks for an additional US part.

Any idea why they used the US grip w/finger grooves?

Not entirely sure.
I have 2 Century B1s, both purchased new a few years ago. One came with a Century brake, the other with a surplus brake. The one with the surplus brake needed the US grip for compliance, the one with the Century brake did not. Perhaps they went with a US grip by default to remove it as a variable in the 922r compliance process.
I hate the Century pistol grips, I dumped them for Yugo grips right after buying the rifles . Both rifles have been excellent in both build quality and function.
Mine was purchased a few years back, probably 2006 or 2007. Seems these dried up, then recently some more came in but they got gone fast. I too replaced the grip, I installed US floorplates on my Yugo mags before swapping out just to make sure I was 922R compliant. Seems most Yugos out there are underfolders, & only a few have the teak wood out front. I should have jumped on one of the first underfolders that had the teak wood handguards,
Our B1's may turn out to be the rare golden child years down the road.
I thought so highly of my first B1 that I bought a second. They are by far my favorite AK variant. I like my AB2 well enough, but I like my B1s far more.
I added side rails for optics to both of my B1s. Drives some of the Yugo purists nuts, but I'm an optics junky and both my B1s wear them.
Just had to pile on...
My Cent AP M70AB2 is my favorite, ahead of my recent PolyTech AKS-762. Don't know who built it for Cent, but they did a great job. Yeah, black park and refurbed parts - but it is at least as "overbuilt" as the PolyT. And it has the Zastava RSB!
These have to be the bargain of the millenia in terms of stamped AKs.
If I could only have one AK - it would be a Yugo.

Same here. I have numerous AKs, but the Yugos have been and always will be my favorites.

I just put a down payment on one today. Love it...

Same here... and, true.
I wanted an underfolder. I'm not a high volume rifle shooter. I shopped around hands-on for quite a while. I kept coming back to the Yugo even though I initially wanted to stay AKM for parts. Yes, not a true AKM, but better built and I'll pay more for replacement parts if it ever comes to that. Now that I have trigger issues resolved (see my post), I'm very pleased.
