Well, all, my wood from APEX has turned out pretty nice I think!

First off, My rifle as it was out of the box.....

My Wood From APEX, after I wiped the most of the grease off....

Here is the finished product. I have been working on this wood for going on a week now. I started with the heat gun, pulling alot of the oil/cosmo out of the wood, then i used a hot iron and a damp rag to raise some of the grain, and small dents. Satrted sanding with 180, and worked all the way to 400grit. I decided not to stain, as I liked them kinda light like they ended up. I used tru-oil, and used about 8 coats, I buffed with 0000 steel wool between coats, and the final I knocked down with steel wool, then polished it back up a bit with a good rag, giving it a nice semi gloss finish...

The pics aren't the best, and the flash fucked it all up, but it's winter, and good light outside isn't happening this time of year

You know at first, I didn't think it would turn out light like it did, but the more I ran the heat gun, the more oil came out, and the lighter in color it got. I didn't even think about staining really, more of a quicky job, as the weather is hit and miss, and i can't exactly use the heat gun and mineral spirits in the house One good thing about the tru-oil is it has very little odor, and dries pretty fast, so It makes a nice kitchen table job....

I'm no stranger to wood refinishing, but i haven't dealt with tru-oil too much, but I have to say, i kinda like it!

The wood was pristine, looked like it came straight from the factory.

Turned in for destruction after the raid with the rest of the cool toys.

nice pic such a shame a beautiful rifle had to die but a damn good pic imagine the money to be made importing and selling these rifles, only if the uninformed liberals would all off them self's in the night, as for the original wood still beautiful just look at the dent in the lower hand guard its from the repeated mag drops as the front edge of the mag hits the fore grip ............Money !

Actually that is where the stock folds up under it and hits it Still it is cool.

The top handguard is like that where the grenade site lays....

That wood looks great! I like all the dents and dings. The wood I ordered from Apex didn't come like that. After seeing yours I need to order another pair. Hopefully I get some dinged up wood.

Spare barrel bag for an M-60 MG.

A lot of guys will use a tennis racket bag because it doesn't look like a "gun bag/case"...kinda handy if you want to carry your rifle in your vehicle and don't have a way to keep it out of sight.
