 Yugo UF wood pistol grip?

It seems a man I know has ordered an Yugo UF from a fellow dealer. The customer is wishing to convert this rifle to a clone (minus the full auto, of course) to the one he carried in the Syrian Army. He claims the handgaurd was wood (easy to come by) as well as the pistol grip (not so easy to find).

The M64 and M70 from what I can tell both have plastic pistol grips. Also, there is really no way to tell what manufacture AK he was really carrying. I do not believe Syria manufactured their own AK's so it reall could have come from anywhere.

Is there anywhere where I could pick up a wood pistol grip that would work for this rifle or am I stuck with making my own? Which would be my next question: What would be the best way to make one?

Regardless. This is what he really wants and I am trying my best to deliver. Thank you for your help.

Yugos take standard AK grips so virtually any grip will work. You might have to do some minor fitting on the grip where it meets the rivets that hold the grip nut to the receiver, but it will be quick and easy if you even have to do it at all.

I play musical grips with my Yugos all the time, it's not a problem. Ironwood Designs is a good source for some nice grips, including Yugo reproduction wood grips (M76 type).

This should be close enough. Price works as well.
