Ok, you guys have seen my post on my new Century M70ab2T, love it or hate it, it's basically a new gun built up from parts by century, and refinished, not exactly original yugo spec, but hey It's a underfolder AK.

My question is, were these flip up sights, night sights like the Yugo SKS's had?? I've looked at mine, and century seems to have finished over them, the dimples are there, just wondering what was in them originally and what has anyone done with them?? I thought about getting some glow paint to put in there, but really they're not practical sights are they?

School me on these things

Original (factory) Yugo night sights:

Front (tritium vials on the left, painted on the right)

Rear (tritium vials on the left, painted on the right)

Looks like mine had the painted in night sights. I'm guessing original was phosphor paint? I know some on the yugo sights from SKS I owned, it was the tritium ones though.

Wonder how well some glow paint would work?

Several people have used paint from Glow Inc with good results: More Info

Tritium works all the time, the paint only works after previous exposure to light. Not a big deal for most people, but worth mentioning.

Is there a way to replace the Tritium?

Yeah, I'll probably go the paint route, as my sights weren't made for tritium, and replacing those little things can be a bitch

Yes, that's exactly like mine are now. Looks to have been painted, but was finished over.

Just to add to this, the Glow inc. paint can be bought in the longer glowing type, will glow for 12-24hrs.....

Just last Tuesday I used a white nail polish base and finished over them with glow-in-the-dark green nail polish Take less than a drop to fill the little dimple-dries really quick. Get your girlfriends remover if you make any mistakes. It looks pretty good as I also painted the numbers on "mauser rip off sight" the same way. Take the nail polish and fill in all of the numbers and lines, Then use the remover to take off the excess polish. Since the numbers and lines are recessed, the remover doesn't affect these. Looks great too, same deal with the meter numbers on the grenade sight.

Great Idea, never thought of that. I have had good luck doing the letters in AR lowers with the little vials of model paint. using the thinner to get the overflow. Same principle I suppose
