New to me Yugo M70B1 - thoughts? opinions? pics
Another thing to add - 1st Yugo I've handled and it felt considerably heavier (even unloaded) than the other AKs I've handled and shot. Which to me, is a good thing. I'm going to have to man up and work out a little so I can toss this thing around...
Vulcan's reputation is well earned/deserved. From what I have read, their receivers are known for poor heat treating. Who knows, it may turn out to be a fine shooter, giving you thousands of rounds of trouble-free shooting. The fact that you bought it after doing the research implies you plan on going the distance with this rifle despite Vulcan's reputation. Hopefully there are no surprises in store for you.
Not too crazy about the AMD-65ish brake or the Century pistol grip.
Yugos are tanks, heavy duty rifles to say the least. My other AKs feel like toys in comparison. I like the heft of them.
Thanks, it had so many things I liked, couldn't resist - parkerized, cleaning rod (aesthetics), muzzle brake, very nice furniture, sights seem dead on, decent barrel, night sights(goners)...
One thing I have found in a thorough cleaning is it appears the vent port is blocked. Spray cleaner won't drain into the barrel. Tried blocking chamber and blowing in, but no air is getting through. Am I missing something?

if the grenade site is up it shuts off the gas port to force all the gas out the muzzle to launch a grenade.
Yup, there is a gas valve that resides in the gas block, actuated by the grenade sight.
Reference this diagram (gas valve is #7418, grenade sight is #3069):
Huge pic, so I'm linking to it
Thanks, guys. Figured it out a bit ago. Well one thing my dumb ass got accomplished is that port is good and clean now.
That's an excellent diagram. Spent 2 days looking for something like that.
