M70 usa grip, gun broker question DID I GET SCAMMED

I just got this in, http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=164592422> It has a thin coat of clear on it, I can scratch it off and had a hard time finding the USA. Found it but it looks to have been scratched in with a toothpick, its that shallow. I was expecting a stamp or something. Should I return this because there can be no way I can prove to anyone its usa made, I can do a better job stamping USA on my original grip, will a scratched USA be legit

I guess my question is does it need to say USA somewhere on it, or as long as its USA made is that all that matters. I have a mag floor plate that says heese, nothing else but that is a USA company.

Here are some close up pics, as you can see its very shiny from some type of coating on it, that can be cleaned off. Not sure if its a mold release. Im just wondering if I got scammed, only $17 total but still I can do a better job myself with a engraver or stamp set.

Here is the e mail I got from them.

As far as you getting in trouble that is not possible, I personally made these in the molds we have on site, if you have a problem tell them to call me and I will verify you bought it from me and I made it in Illinois.

I found a gun broker feedback for the same thing

USA was scratched on the handle but had molded numbers identical to a Yugoslavian grip I have. I am returning item for refund because part was defective and I'm not sure it was made in the USA.
Response: (left on 11/23/2009) These are exact replicas of the M70 grips so the original numbers would show. USA is etched into the rubbrt mold where the trigger guard fits...no other place would be appropiate.

Man, that grip looks rough. Got pics of the whole grip?

Its really nice, the top has a piece of plastic that just needs slight sanding, and the bolt hole has a piece of slag but its a really nice copy. Also the shiny crap needs to be brushed off. I have no complaints with the looks and feel and hopefully its just as strong. Im just wondering about the crappy USA markings. Since this is made in the USA im guessing I can legally remark it with a stamp or engraver. Or should I leave it as is because thats the way it was made.

I bought a repro Yugo grip a few years ago and the USA stamp is on here:

I can't remember the name of the company that made them but they are rougher in appearance than the original.

Ive seen one where is was molded into the top of the grip on the inside, but your stamp looks good. I actually dont need that extra USA part but I got it at such a low price I figured why not.

I bought some grips from this bag-o-**** and I sent them back. The tops of the grips were ground in a screwed up angle and were uninstallable. They are such crap you will have no problem with compliance. He returned my money after about 10 e-mails and then I changed my feedback to a C wich I should have not. Deal with this guy and pull your butthole apart for a screwing. Just some advise.

Well im just going to keep it, not worth the hassle of returning and the cost. I do have to say ive been in phone contact many times and it has been easy to call them, not sure if returns would be so easy. Im just glad I got it at a low price and I should of been more skeptical with the one pic the posted. I will wait a few more days and then post a bad feedback on the sale and the quality of the grip. I will be interested in seeing what they say back.

POHF was making US grips a few years back, perhaps that is one of them.

Copes had some US Yugo grips for sale a little while ago but never mentioned who the supplier was. They looked pretty good (in the photos at least).

I agree with you it is not worth the effort for 1 grip. I myself bought the 24 grip deal they had so it was alot more money. I could not even get them on the phone. Their comment "you get what you pay for" shows you what kind of company they are looking to fraud someone and hoping they don't take the time to complain about it. Like you and I said it's not worth the hassle for a grip, and that's what their hoping for. I am sure they did not mention in the add the grips look like shit and that's why they are cheap. What kind of costumer support is that. "Deal with these people at your own risk."

Yikes, I hope you get it all squared away because that's the ugliest grip I've ever seen.

Mikegigabyte, your pistol grip is a worn Yugoslavian grip that someone has poorly carved "USA" into. It's not a US-made grip.

These are "not" Yugo grips. They are shot with poor quality plastic compound and look it in person. Most of these grips even have air bubbles in the plastic that shows from the bad mold injection and poor shots sizes. They either deburr these not at all or too much. They electro penciled the mold to say USA wich is why it looks scratched into the plastic. I have handled these same grips. I have dealt with this seller.

Wow. +1. You're definately right - it's certainly easier to see on a monitor screen as opposed to using a Motorola Droid to view it last night.

Yikes on that grip!

The guy I talked to said he made them. These are new, it has mold crap on the top that you have to sand down, this isnt a old used grip. I just thought if he has the ability to make molds then cant you spend a few dollars on a stamp set to put USA in the mold, instead of a scratch. Im sure the authorities wouldnt buy the scratched in USA, and the money it would cost for lawyers to even contact this guy for proof would be a fortune. Luckily I didnt really need it, it was just a good price and I thought it would of looked exactly like the original one. Im just going to trash it as it doesnt look like it would even be strong enough, seems to hollow sounding, like maybe the plastic used is cheap. I am going to leave bad feedback.

Left them a F, and warned not to buy from them.

I saw that grip on GB and almost went for it being the price and all.
Looked at the picture and something just told me to shy away.
Then looked at how many he tried to sell since January and it wasn't very many out
of over 100 listings so figured something wasn't right..

If you are looking for quality try this fellow out.
He makes a rock solid M-70 USA grip that can't be beat.
Straight up guy.
I got two and when they arrived were more than I hoped for.

Got the new grip, it looks well made, solid filled in handle not hollow like stock one. Same exact color and look. Nice USA stamp on the inside, looks totally legit

Yeah , the M-70 grips are sweet. ( They also double as a USA made M64 and M92 grip too )
Like mentioned I got two and they are by far the best quality I have ever seen.
I like that he's doing grips in sizes for the bigger hands too ,
Ronin is a straight up guy, does quality solid as a rock grips + the pricing and shipping is fair all around.

Here's a pic of them while still in production.

Sells 'em here

I see now the consistency of the mold numbers on the right side of the grip.
