can someone tell me what I have?
I have what have been told is a "paratrooper" model sks. It takes the regular fixed magazine.
It is marked SKS S. Does anyone know what the "s" model means?
The serial nbr starts 92xxxx.

paratrooper model. s stands for short.
It is a Chinese SKS, the S stands for shortened gas tube/piston.
They are often called Paratrooper because they have a shorter 16" barrel compared to the 20" full size rifles.
