OK I have been an AK guy for a long time but today I got my first SKS a Yugo. I have been looking around for ideas on scope mounting and I am getting lost. What would you guys consider the best scope mount for this SKS. Also I am wondering how hard is it to remover the Grenade Launcher and install a muzzle break. I have read sometimes they just do not come off that easy. Thanks F
Google Scout Scopes. This what I use and it works flawless.
What scope mount would be considered the best. I have searched and their are are few on the market but I would like to get something that will mount easy and hold well.
The scout scope mount is about as good as it gets for the sks platform and you don't have to permanently alter your gun. Trust me on this one you wont regret it..
Doing a quick search I found a site call ahem.... scoutscope.com
It has been awhile but I heard many say this is a solid scout scope mount for the SKS. However, I did read on someone have a spent round bash his optic, since the sks tends to spit the rounds foward.
I think the scout scope idea is a good way to put an optic without any permanent work and it is a rather easy diy project.
However, if you want a solid way to mount an optic, you may consider this mount
Yes, it does require drill/tapping but most would say this is the best option to put an optic as solid as it can be. It is not as hard as you think.
I have the scoutscope.com mount on my sks. It is just as solid as the choate without having to drill anything to mount. It is solid and it is not going anywhere. The rail for the optic is removable, so you can buy extra rails and have different optics mounted to them that retain zero when remounted to the base. Take a look at both, either you will need to do some drilling or you can just mount it up. The choice is yours.
Check the thread on the right, pretty much covers everything your asking about.
I installed one of these:
Kalinka Optics Side Rail
Very solid and instead of butchering the wood, I used an ATI plastic stock.
Just for fun . . . solid, but I need to test it longer distances. I will report back Friday.
