Ran across this on the SKS board should be available sometime in Jan of 2011 no price estimate as of yet. I love the brown.

I will really never understand the point of buying a surplus firearm and going out and turning it into a hunting rifle. It seems like there are so many great hunting rifles out there that it should not be necesary to do this.

True. I do not disagree.I would have to scope it out with a proper side mount but by the time I get it to the way I want it, it may cost more then the SKS was.
However, the SKS is considered the poorman's (hunting) rifle around my neck of the woods. You would be hard pressed to find another semi-auto rifle as cheap. Personally, I feel better off with a bolt action hunting rifle but I would not hesistate to use an SKS if I had nothing else and for short range game. This stock seems nice especially if you need some US compliant part or you still feel the stock SKS stock does not work for you. I do like that pistol like grip on it.

True that. They would have sold a forest of them if they would have retained the original everything - but add a slighty longer LOP. I'd set my CHICOM stock aside for one of those in a Russian Red laminate.
Wish someone would entertain a non-sporty wood set for the unconverted SAIGAs so we can ditch the swoopy, curvy plastic for a more utilitarian set.

Considering that years ago you could an SKS for 100 bucks, these stocks simply add to the looks for those who want something new and very inexpensive. Plus for those who like shooting their cheap surplus rifle, these stocks help give the rifle a different feel and might be something prefered by others. Not everybody that bought one of these rifles back in the day bought them for restoration projects. Some just bought them for cheap rifles for fun and practicality. You have to admit, that TAPCO has made a ton of money bynot wondering why people would want to buy a stock like this, they simply knew that these stocks would sell and to their gain, they do sell.
Those are not lame like the crapco models, and actually look good. If those stocks are cut for a bayonet.. you have a winner.
I just looked at their website. They look nice. I should be thankful they even make a left handed model but I wish they had a lefty stock without a thumbhole.
