The Chinese clips made for issue are much better than those made for commercial sale.
The ones made for issue have the number of the plant where they were made stamped on the back.
IDK where you might find some.

I use commercial stripper clips and never had a problem, YMMV.

You need to take a spent case, and work it back and forth in the clips for them to work smoothly, at least in my experience you do.

No, a live round will work too.

It's the luck of the draw.
A friend bought some and half were useless since the cartridges wouldn't move with normal force.

So bend them a little and they will work just fine...

The problem wasn't the curvature. The "lips" were improperly formed and the slot wasn't wide enough. As a result, the cartridges bound up.
I solved the problem by giving him some good ones.

I guess he got a bad batch because as I said before I have had no problems with any commercial stripper clip, YMMV.

That's what "It's the luck of the draw." means.
Cacinok is not the first person to post that they've had half of a batch not work properly. Which is why I told my friend to trash the bad ones and gave him some made for issue clips that work.

Out of curiosity where are you getting the originals?

The ones I'm using now were loaded with cartridges. 55 clips in a can, two cans to a case.
Unlike most other people, I didn't leave them on the ground at the range.

Most of mine are issued. However, I've never had problems with the commercial clips.

Chinese.
550 cartridges on 55 clips in a can, 2 cans in a wood case. Very inexpensive in the mid 80's.
