anyone seen this one? The myth was basically a powerful car stereo could set off an sks inside the car. They tested it poorly IMHO. Should have tried it with modifications that woul have been done by gangsters, basically a hairpin trigger, and modding the pin for that awesome slamfire phenomenon. Real music wouldnt hurt either...

I didn't know gangsters commonly altered the trigger on SKS rifles.
I must be out of touch.

So, what happened? I assume it didn't fire. Hanging in suspense, here

apparently the only way to jar an sks into firing is with some C4. as far as gangsters messing with the triggers, that may not be normal but very well could happen. The myth stated that they were russian gangsters. I figure that they would have a little more knowledge than the normal run of the mill hoodlums.

My stock internals Norinco used to slam fire on occasion when using non mil-spec primers.

I recently bought one of the firing pins with the spring, so I hope those days are behind me.

Because our gangster schools are lightyears behind the Russkies?
They do that old filing down on the sear pin thingy with the shoulder thing that goes up too, I'm sure!

Understood, I sometimes hate mythbusters. One would think that there are qualified gunsmiths in Russia since these rifles where design their.... If anything they would have done a trigger jog on the weapon to have a light trigger pull and would explain the reason as to why the myth is possible IMO....

Welcome home soldier....

Well, they decided to confirm it though, since the explosion got 1/4 rifles to fire. I think that was their concession to they way you said you would have like them to have tried it.

Their testing was flawed by a lack of information. Some sks were made with a floating firing pin that could be made to fire theoretically by heavy, bumping music. Certainly by a blow to the heal of the stock.

It doesn't have anything to do with the firing pin. A lot SKS's have a negative sear engagement and can allow the hammer to slip off the sear if the rifle is jolted.
