I have decided to buy a receiver, start the form 1, and put it on the shelf while I wait. What is the best one to start with (i.e. as close to plug and play as possible)?

To combine with one of those m92 kits I see online. First saw those in 2005. Thought they were awesome. :)

Nodak Spud, unless you want to wait 5-10 weeks from 74ullc if he is making them.

I think the Nodak Spud Premium looks like what I need. I will call tomorrow. Thanks for the heads-up!

I need to send off a 9mm AR lower for engraving soon and will likely get one of these and send it too and then get the Form 1 rollin'. Looks like lots of fun!

If you want historically accurate, go with 74uLLC. He is indeed making them, but he is a one-man band who makes each receiver custom by hand. Wait times are long, but they are worth it.

While I appreciate the care and effort that purists go through, I am kinda only interested in a 7.62x39 shorty blaster. :) It'll be my 3rd SBR.

On second thought, after checking out 74uLLC's website, he looks like a solid operation. What I am interested in is having the final build be as "plug and play" as possible without extra machining or hassle. He looks able to accomodate that and do the SBR engraving too! Hmm...

I ordered a NDS receiver. The whole reason why I talked myself into this is b/c of the cheap price for getting things started. It was $96 shipped. :)
