What's my best bet if I want a nice krink?

I have an arsenal sa-m7 that I love and want to add a nice krink to my collection. I'd love something with a side folder like a
Slr 107ur, but can't find them anywhere and the one k-var is selling for $3200 is a joke. Any advice on what route to take? I'm a newbie with krinks. Thanks!

1. Buy kit from Rguns
2. Buy barrel from Bluejack (look on theakforums)
3. Buy receiver from 74U LLC
4. Wait a couple months for receiver to show up
5. Send off for Form 1
6. Wait a few more months
7. Build
8. Enjoy!

I went this route, and I'm out around $1,400.00. I'm stuck at step 6 with my Form 1 pending. I build my own, this is how I'm doing it. The process will change slightly, take longer, and cost more $ if you don't build and want someone else to do the build.

Thanks for the info. If I were to have someone else do it, what are some good builders? I heard good things about Firing Line in OK. How much more on average would I be looking at if I went with someone like them compared to building my own?

If you haven't built before, don't start with the (expensive + 6 month wait) Krink. Build a few others first so there's no surprises.

Some of the other guys on here can recommend builders. I really don't know what the going rate is because I've never had someone else build one for me, but I think I've heard that $300-400 is the going rate. Plus factor in some extra waiting time.

I called Firing Line in OK and they quoted me 6-8 weeks with a price of around twice of the one it took you to build. I really wanted to have a custom shop build a 7.62 krink for me, but I dont know if I could justify that price. Are most custom AK shops going to quote that high for a krink build?

Im starting to think holding out for a 107ur might be my best bet.

Here's the breakdown for mine so far:

All numbers are rounded and to the best of my memory. This is for a 5.45 numbers matching Tula kit.

Kit: $750
Reciever: $240
V4 Bluejack Barrel: $180
Tax Stamp: $200
Rivets: $20 (AK-builder + some from Kvar)

$1380.00

My father-in-law is a gunsmith and I don't like refinishing so I'll have him do that part.

I bought the correct sling and drop case off various boards for another $65. You will want some nice bakelite and plum mags too.

If you're wanting to go 7.62x39 on a budget, I'd look into the Yugo kits from Blackthorn (rolling the dice) or wait for Atlantic to get some.

Thoughts?? Will no doubt be pricey, but looks like exactly what I want.

EXACTLY what I was going to say. Except firingline is building mine. Oh, and also be sure to pick up "Russian" looking rivets for it.

No thanks, I like the Russian kits on stamped receiver from 74ullc MUCH more than that.

74U LLC receiver is I believe the most accurate clone receiver you can get. He's got the details down to a science.

The milled receiver is nice, but from a collector's standpoint doesn't have the same level of appeal the 74U LLC does.

I'm looking at this piece not much as a collectors item, but more of a practical shooter that I will take to the range and shoot the hell out of it working on well placed, quick follow up shots. I've always wanted a SBR, and figured a 762 krink would be a good way to use the ballistics of that round in the short krink barrel to achieve that and give me a nice compact, ultra reliable weapon I could use for SHTF as well.

With this in mind what do you think of that piece on GB for what I will use it for? If not, what would better suit me? I am heavily vested in the 762 x39 for ammo and mags as well.

100% my own opinion really. I just prefer Russian AKs.

I would still get a Tula Krink parts kit and have it built on a 74ullc receiver. His receivers aren't expensive. It'll be a badass gun in the end...collector crap aside.

The 5.45 74ULLC with Tula kit will end up being cheaper, I'd say more collectible and probably more accurate as well because of the caliber. My 5.45 Bulgarian AKSU has no problems hitting half mansize targets offhand at 300 yards, neither does NinerRider's 86 Tula with cut down DDR barrel. OTOH my SLR107UR in 7.62 didn't perform nearly as well at the same range using the same configuration...irons or red dot on Stormwerkz rail. I wasn't thrilled with it's 300 yard performance and while some may say that it doesn't matter because it's a Krink, at the same time the 5.45's smoked the 107UR side by side and it left me with a better appreciation of 5.45.

So while I don't know how well the Firing Line milled receiver will do in real life, my slice of experience with 7.62 out of an 8" barrel has been that it isn't nearly as good as 5.45 at longer distances. It may not matter if it's just a range blaster but all things considered I didn't get enough extra fun out of the 7.62 to override the performance difference, so I sold it to NinerRider who loves it for what it is. Mine is a sample size of one of course and I don't want to sound like I'm passing judgement on all 7.62 Krinks but that's my personal firsthand experience.

I like options and I enjoy being able to take any of my rifles out to the practical distances I have available, but for mag dumps in the pistol bays long range performance doesn't matter obviously. It all depends on what you intend to use it for...plinking, range blaster or whatnot.
