Bulgy 4 piece flash hider cleaning.
Hey all!
I am finally in the club after 9 months of waiting. I will post some pictures soon. I shot around 400 rounds of russian corrosive ammo today. I was wondering is there anyway to get that nice clean look back on the cone inside the flash hider? I stripped the flash hider down and cleaned the hell out of it. I am nervous about all of the black that is still left on it. The cleaning method I used was a 5 gallon bucket of water and some simple green. I then dried it int he sun and used an air compressor. I finally shot the gun with some g96 gun spray and then wiped it down again. Mix some bore snaking and gas tube cleaning in there as well. All in all the process took about an hour and a half.
The water did not seem to dirty, nor did it seem like it took much of the black powder out. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Water doesn't take carbon off very well, soap won't do much better.

I agree. I take mine apart use the Hoppe's then lightly oil it. I can't get it as shiny as it was new, but I scrape the bad build up and then it just looks stained. Never found any rust. Oh, and I clean mine after every trip to the range.
I have a couple and haven't tried this but my buddy said he put his in the dishwasher and it came out looking new.

I would be careful putting Lead and other toxic products into a dishwasher.
a scotch bright pad and some clp then polish -it will look brand new.
Just as an FYI, I bought slip 2000 carbon killer yesterday. That stuff works great!
