What laws changed ?

What laws changed and when did they change that has driven up the prices and availability of krinkovs and krinkov kits ?

If my memory served me correctly, ATF activated a ban back in Sept 2005 which affected foreign-made barrels. So complete demilled parts kits have started to dry up and increase in price since then. If you notice, many AK parts kits now come with no barrel or a US made barrel. Demilled AKSU kits used to sell for 1/3 of what they sell for now. I got my AKSU kit and M92 kit back in 2006 when they were still reasonably priced.

Maybe somebody else here can elaborate on the Ban.....

Good information. I just thought it was cause I wanted one Got my kit when they were right at $800.00, then they seemed to dry up after that. I thought it was the Obama thing, but your info seems to make more sense.

So the ban only applies to complete rifle kits which is why there are Romanian pistol krinkovs being sold complete for $370 ? I am just trying to figure out why these pistols are so cheap yet a kit you have to put together is over twice as much.

No Romanian pistols are not kits, they are imported as complete pistols into the country.

This info comes from my class 7 FFL who still imports stuff and seems to actually know what he's talking about. What changed was the guard at the US customs office. One morning they woke up and said they weren't applying the law like they should have and hacked the barreled kits that were coming in. Because we all know that full-auto barrels and semi-auto barrels are completely different from the molecular level on up. This is perhaps the saddest thing about it all, there is no one we can kick out of office to get this back. It is appointed and hired individuals making this choice without any new legislation. Soon enough we'll all be criminals because they will realize that we weren't supposed to even know how to make guns without a license of some sort. See you all in Federal prison.

that law about importing barrels, was always on the books, along with receivers and frames, since 89. importers got around that by stating on the importation form that these parts kit with intact barrels are "replacements parts" , meaning for rifles already here in the US. well, fast forward to 05 and they put a halt to the "replacement parts" reason for imporation, and they narrowed it to mean that no barrel can be imported that was "non-sporting"

How in the hell are pistols sporting then? Like the GSG 5 pistol? 922 needs to be gone.
