Maadi ARM

I just picked up a Maadi ARM at a gun show today. Seems very straight in fit and feel, it has matching numbers. The only thing that concerned me is the finish of the gun. It looks like it was spray painted with gloss black krylon spray paint. The seller says thats the way it came. It looks legit as the small area's where there is wear, i dont see layers of different finishes. It has the bird in the hat symbol on one side and the "54" squiggle on the bottom.
Is this the right finish for the AK? The furniture on it is great and looks authentic per the pictures I could find online.

Yes- sounds like the correct finish. Mine is a RML, but the finish should be the same. Mine has held up fine since I bought it in 1994.

They are very good AKs with a very crappy looking finish!

Yep, looks like the same finish. :) Yours is a bit more primo than mine. I think I got it for a pretty fair price.
I havent shot it yet, but i am looking forward to it.

It looks great. I have 7 AKM variants and the Maadi is my go to range AK that I enjoy shooting the most. It has never had a single issue. I bet you will love it. Give us a range report when you can.

Looks like you have a Polish Lower HG, Egyptian Upper HG, Polish Bakelite Grip and Polish Stock on it. You can find the correct wood for it pretty cheap.

Check out Apexguns- you can get the correct Maadi wood lower HG and stock for $40 each. They have black and brown pistol grips too...

No- you have it backwards. You are not looking to sell Polish wood. You are buying Maadi wood and looking for a Polish AK (or parts kit plus US receiver to make your next AK). I have one AK that started as an extra slant brake...

For a time Polish wood commanded quite a bit, don't sell yourself short if you do decide to sell it. As long as the previous owner didn't bugger it up while fitting it.
