I'm planning a build with one of the Apex Egyptian kits. I was wondering which NodakSpud receiver would be the closest to the original or does it really even matter.

Go With A NDS-3 It Makes Building ALOT Simpler...

Egyptian AKs have a unique dimple so it'll be hard to do a true representation on a US Reciever.

That said, a lot of us are using the NDS 1 and having the Arabic markings and selector notches done.

+1. That dimple is going to probably be the biggest aesthetically incorrect and noticeable thing on the receiver, regarding the "as close as possible to the real thing" issue. For me, that was the deal killer on getting a kit because there would be a lot of unique and complete parts all together but only to have them built on a receiver that's very obviously not Egyptian. But there's not much of a choice unless you go the route of working swapping a few things out from your kit onto a MISR or ARM rifle. Sadly, the trunnion can't be swapped out, though. Either way is certainly a fine choice for a really nice project.

Where are you getting the selectors marked in Arabic?

I sent gundoc a close up and detailed pic of the markings, he forwarded it to the guy who makes his engraving plates. After a few back and forths and tweaks, we finally nailed it down. Mine should be back in a few weeks.
