Steyr Maadi -- What's this worth

This was recently acquired through the probate of a will. The owner passed away in '96 and his parents kept everything locked up. They just recently passed so we finally got a look at the inventory.

I understand these are rare and are highly desireable as they were supposedly made on Russian tooling sold to Egypt.

Right now we are trying to determine fair market value on some of the weapons.

Thanks for looking.

THat's a beautiful rifle.

I can't tell you haw much they are worth now, but back when they were introduced, they cost around $800.

I believe only 2,000 were imported into the US - therefore, this makes them one of the more rare variants out there. This one looks used which will detract a little but not much...I would estimate around $1,200 - $1,400 based on the pictures provided.

my $0.02

Cheers,

1200.00 to 1400.00 is about right. Don't sell it under that, just keep it. It is te truest AKM to the Russian AKM that you can buy. They were imported for about a year in 1982, maybe 2000 got in before they stopped them from coming in. Some came in with fA bolts, & bolt carrrier and the importation stopped.

The price is hard to determine, from my research, because so few of them are around.

Check this list to see if your steyr was used in the movie "red dawn"
http://www.longmountain.com/movieguns/RedDawn

It looks like yours has been in storage a LONG time with the dust on it.

Check the "Blue Book of gun values" at any big book store. When I checked for mine, it listed a near new one at about $2,000.00 and one in well used condition at over a thousand bucks!

FWIW: This one does have a full auto bolt carrier; you can see the auto trip "nub" in one of the pics. Not that it really matters of course, but just wanted to point it out.

+1 (or whatever number it's up to) on it being a nice looking rifle!

That rust was just from being shot and then put away. No big deal, it will rub out.

It does show some use but depending on how it cleans up, anywhere from $900 on the low side to $1200 on the high side (if that is dust and dirt and not rust.)

A Steyr MAADI in that condition is will fetch over $1200 without even batting an eyelash.

Hell...I'll buy it if you want to part with it.
