 Folding stocks for VEPR's

I'm sending out a plea for help!!!
I currently own a VEPR KTR-03V. I am very happy with this model right up to the point of the cheesy stock. It's almost as if they built the whole front end beefy and then ran low on money for the stock design.
I have been trying to find a good folding stock for this gun for a few years now. Once upon a time Robinson Arms, here in Utah, at one time seemed to have an excellent solution however they can't seem to commit to producing the folding stock for the VEPR that they boast about for those customers interested in setting up their VEPR's. In addition to that they have poor product customer service leaving little desire to promote a company that will not address customer product requests.
(Oh! Wait! Don't they distribute the VEPR??? Hummm! Maybe parts and good customer service should be considered as part of the business plan.)
So!!! That being said....
Does anyone else have any ideas other than Robinson Arms as a viable sources of folding stocks for VEPR KTR models?

An ACE stock and ACE Vepr adaptor.

LINK

ETA Robinson is no longer the distributor of the Vepr. They lost that contract.

Thank you!
I'll get right on it!
Hopefully an organization more competent will become the new distributor.
Thank you again!

It says you must cut off the "tang" to install the block. Anyone got a pic of the tang and how much is to be cut? Any tips here? How hard is this to do? Potential for disaster?

I just bought a Vepr with that stock off the EE. It should be here Monday or Tuesday. I will post detailed pics once I have the gun in hand.

The tang is the piece of metal, that sticks out the back of your reciever that your stock bolts to. It should have 1 or 2 scres going through it into your buttstock.

potential for disaster? Only if your drunk or have NO mechanical skills, You could possible scratch your reciever.

But know this, If you cut the tang, You will no longer be able to put the original stock back on at full strength. I believe the VEPRs have an internal screw, that would still be there after removal of the tang, I will have to look later. This is a permanent MOD to the gun.

I put an ACE folder on my Vepr and really love it. Cut the tang off flush with the rear of thr trunion and thats all there is to it. REMEMBER this move is unreversable. Personally I would never want to go back to the original stk, but to each his own. I also added the longest spacer they had and the thickest recoil pad to stretch it out as long as I could and man when I lay her out prone a coyote at 400 meters don't have a chance in hell. Have a great day.

Here's the real question VEPR Mafia would you boys cut the tang on yours?

I have a VEPR K with a factory A2 ish birdcage flash hider I was looking into getting a folding stock too but I hate the idea of cutting the tang. To me I think it would degrade the value of the gun even if I did a good job.... I don't know I just hate the thought of doing that to a rifle that is getting hard to find these days.

I would to install an ACE folder if I had the cash but I would not cut the tang so some plastic stock. My VeprK will end up with the some day. I have one on my Saiga and I love it. I am happy with the factory stock to though.

Well, I just picked up a Vepr with the Ace folder. The quality is great, but it is a 7.5" stock, and with the folding mechanism and pad it's about 9". I think I am going to sell the stock and folding mech. and just order a 9.5" stock. But, I like NATO length stocks, while most here like WARSAW length.

Oh, and Jake, I wouldn't have a problem cutting the tang. This stock is SO much lighter than the RA stock, that it makes a HUGE difference.

Also, I realized that I just have no use for a folder. Does look cool though.

No I will no be changing my buttstock on my VEPR K. It is not a question of value, I never plan on parting with it! I actualy like the butstock. I do not think vepr got cheap but rather figured out how heavy the rilfe would be an what a wieght saving they could get out of the buttstock without affecting the weapons over all quaility! If any sucker,... i mean anyone want to sell their verp k let me know

Your post does not make alot of sense...especially where you speak of vepr getting cheap. The guns are made by molot. Not vepr. And as far as getting cheap? What do you mean? They come in country with wood furniture, and are then converted. These guns used to be imported by robinson armament, Who had the buttstock and foregrip, that you probably have on yours, made. There was high demand for other furniture, due to the weight and looks of the Robinson (referred to fron here on out as either RA, the dumbasses, or 2 more weeks, for ease of the posters) stocks. Ace was the only company that came to call. Then RA lost the contract because they invested all thier money in another of thier products. I really dont think anyone got cheap, the stocks were RA proprietary stocks and the new importers, RAAC, sells them to Atlantic Firearms, and I am betting that either one of 2 things is happening, thier are Nne of the RA style buttstocks left. Or Atlantic doesnt want to put them on there, for whatever reason. Probably the only luck your friend (from the other post) will have in finding an RA style VEPR is gonan be on the equipment exchange, or a pawn shop.

As for never selling the vepr and loving the buttstock. Yeah, go ahead and love it. All 9 pounds of it, many of the VEPR owners have realized that you can still have the greatness of the VEPR, in a lighter package. Its a great gun enjoy it. And the grip on the VEPR in the lower pic is a TDI ergogrip....But to get it on your vepr, your either gonna have to hack that stock up, or change it all together.....

My referance was to the first post calling the buttstock cheap(which i do not agree)...I now realize he was not speaking of the vepr k. Did nt know about alot of the info in your post thanks for filling me in.

Yeah, I would like to see the insides of that mod.

To answer those who wonder how hard it would be to do the mod on the VEPR for a folding stock. For this mod I used a hack saw (with a new blade), and files. Course, medium, and fine. I was able to utilize the pistol grip off the original stock.
All I can say it take your time! Don't be in a hurry and you will be able to easily modify your VEPR K too.
