last I've heard the elevated price on the saiga 12 was due to a supposed importation ban by the ATF, did anyone heard anything else???

It hasn't happened yet, but I've read some posts about ATF mandating the side(optic)rail must be removed from Saiga shotguns to be importable now.

I saw an article on another site saying there will not be any more need for "sporter" versions of imported shotguns... hopefully no more need for Saiga 12s to be converted...

The only site I have found that's selling them right now is classic arms. but from what Ive read people are getting the run around from them about customs holdups and getting them shipped. The newest imports are without the side scope rail attachment. I think that is the only difference that has been banned. From everything I can find out, they are not banned, only the scope attachment. the price on the newest ones is only $499 when they start shipping.

Yup. No more funding for the sporting test for importation of shotguns. They won't have money to print up any more of those "shotgun study" bs, thus making them unable to decide what is unsporting. All banned shotguns stay banned, but no new ones. Win for us.
