A couple quick questions about my Saiga 7.62 conversion.

I finished moving the trigger and filing down the mag catch and need to work on the front end now but I have a couple questions.

First, I shaved down the mag release lever to fit my steel "high capacity" magazines and I manually cycled rounds through it without a problem, never installed a feed ramp. Went out and put about 50 rounds through it the next day and didn't have a problem. Should I still install a feed ramp?

Second, my Romy lower HG retainer showed up today and I realized how difficult it would be to modify this and get it around the barrel without removing the front sight and gas block. Since I already plan on throwing on a threaded AK74 style front sight in the future, I'm just going to replace the gas block too. So do I need a certain gas block that is suited for a 90 degree gas port?

Third, can the front sight and gas block simply be pressed off? Or do I need to make cuts with the dremel?

Sorry if these questions have been asked before but I keep finding mixed answers on some of these questions so I thought I would just ask here.

You should add the feed ramp if it looks like it needs one. It hurts nothing, costs nothing and will add reliability.

yes, you need a 90 degree gas block just like the one on there now. You do not "need" to replace it, but to do a complete and correct conversion it should have a lug on it.

Third, can the front sight and gas block simply be pressed off? Or do I need to make cuts with the dremel? Pressed works. I use a pulley puller for the FS, and just cut the neutered gas block off. Be careful not to cut into the barrel. Or, have a smith do it for you.
