SAR STILL has trigger slap
OK, I changed out the fire control group that came w/the SAR-2 for a Tapco G2 to get rid of the trigger slap. It has gotten better, but it is still there. Is there anything that can be done?
I believe the problem will be found in the trigger to disconnector to hammer proportions.
Red Star Arms trigger kit. Best money I've spent on my SAR-1. Fits all the SAR's by the way.
The G2 has a lifetime warranty. Send it back for a different one. I've installed 5G2s and none of them had slap.
^ Agree. Did you install the entire group––hammer, trigger, discon, sleeve, and discon spring?
Are you releasing the trigger before or after the bolt goes back into battery?

I think this may help diagnose the problem, but it should not matter. Pretty sure the disconnector is acting on the trigger when it should not. If the trigger group has a lifetime warranty, send it back, esp if the hammer is part of the assembly that was replaced.
If the hammer was not replaced with the trigger, the ratios could be all off. As the back of sear resets on the disconnector, the disconnector should move in its spring restricted travel and not act on the trigger.
There are several very good pages related to AK trigger set up on the internet
In my case, going back when the SARs first came out, the horrendous slap was eliminated by the installation of the complete TAPCO G2 group.

Because I don't have access to the tools, a vise in particular, I took it to someone who installed everything that TAPCO sent.
Hi SRRhodesia,
You don't need any major tools or a vise to replace the fire control group.
Review the link below and then reinstall what you have. If you still experience trigger slap, send the TAPCO FCG back and request a replacement.

+1 taking a FCG out and putting it back in is just a little more difficult than field stripping the gun.
If nothing else, check to make sure all the parts (trigger, disconnector, and hammer) say Tapco on them. Also make sure there is a sleeve through the trigger & disconnector.
Pull the disconnector with your finger, is it under spring tension?
The disconnector is on top the trigger.
Also check to make sure the legs of the hammer spring are resting on top of the trigger bars.
I have Tapco G2 FCG's in all of my AK's:
No trigger slap.
