How did you shorten your PSL barrel?

How short did you go? What did you do for a bayo lug and FH? I want to shorten mine, and want to do it right. Can I use an AK gas block with the bayo lug, or is that going to short with the barrel? Did you have the barrel threaded for a FH? Thanks in advance!

Had mine shortened to about 19.5", re crowned and re threaded to 14/1 left hand threads. SAR1 front sight housing. Used an Italian Tri Compensator re threaded to fit.

ETA: If I remember rightly, the ID of a AK gas block is to small to fit over the PSL barrel, if using the existing gas port.

That's what I was thinking for length. Somewhere in the 18" range. I think I'm gonna go with a Tantal front site base and 14 mm LH threads and a brake the right length sona bayo works. Got any pics?

So, how well did your accuracy improve?

Trying to upload a pic of a target from last weekend. Don't know what I'm doing wrong though.

Go to imageshack and hit media upload and then open your file(s). I wanna see that as well.

I chopped it to 16.125", pressed it out, put it in the lathe, trued and crowned the muzzle, put on a '74 FSB and reinstalled. Gets minute of rock at any distance I shoot.

I settled on 21" and used an AK74 FSB and 7.62 muzzle brake. It's great, though the brake has a little bit of wobble.

So, if I cut the barrel down a few inches and do not touch the gas system, will it still cycle ok?

If I'm threading it for a suppressor mount brake, should I do 5/8x24 or 1/2x28?

Do the 5/8x24, thats the common threading for alot of western .30 cal guns (.308 mainly) and probably will be the threading of most of the .30 cal cans/QD can mounts.
