How do you convince someone that thier beloved romyG was not imported as a complete rifle but as a parts kit? I had a guy offer me his romy in trade. When I asked who built it? he insisted that it was built overseas and imported just as he pictured. I tried to tell him that the romyG's came in as parts kits biult on US recievers by individuals or by profesional biulders. He still said I was wrong. I pointed out that the reciever in the pic had no import marking like the wasr that was also in the pic. I kind of feel bad for the guy as the pics showed it to be a home build, the rivets were all different looking will differnt degrees of flattening, The reveiver didn't look like it had any marking on it at all.

sounds like a home-built from a flat. beware. he probably built it, and it doesn't work. FYI, any home built needs to have a manufacturer and serial number engraved in it before it can be transferred legally. I'd price it at the going rate of a parts kit + us parts added, as you'll probably end up demilling it.

I have several rifles built from Romy "G" kits. None have any markings on the receiver.
I built them on receivers I made from a flat.
If the rifle in question was imported as a rifle, it would have the name and location of the manufacturer and of the importer on the receiver as required by federal law. If it has no such markings, the receiver was made from a flat or a bent blank.

Good luck convincing him.

I have been emailing him back and forth, he is still trying to convince me. He says it has a serial number and the date stamped on the upper corner of the reciever. But it aparently deosn't have a brand name as he didn't say anything about it. As soon as I saw the pics I wasn't interested but the guy took offence when I told him it was biult from a kit.

The number and year of manufacture were placed there by the Romanians when they built the original rifle.

I did ask him if the number was on the rear trunion or the reiver. He says its on the reciever but I really don't know if he understands what I'm asking.

The number is undoubtedly on the trunnion, which is attached to the front of the receiver.
It's quite likely the would be seller can't tell the difference.

Consider yourself fortunate to have stopped wasting time with a stooge.
