 Help me jack my MAK....

I have a Norinco MAK-90 that I long ago converted to 922 compliance. I've posted pictures of it here before.

Well, time has passed and I am now (finally) moving to a state where I can actually have the damned thing, and I've decided to celebrate by finishing the mods I had started andhave to put off when I left the rifle in Free America. Lots has changed since then!

Where I would like some assistance is in identifying the proper gas block/front sight combination.

I will be installing a TWS Rail/Dust Cover along with an AimPoint Micro. That's easy enough. What I would like to do is to remove the gas block and front sight and replace the block with one having an integral sight that will work with the TWS peep sight.

Any ideas?

The barrel is already threaded, so the front end will simply be a matter of cleaning up the front end and reinstalling the Krebs AR flash suppressor that is already there.

Also, I see tons of options for railed forearms. UltiMak, Midwest, etc. Which are recommended and why?

Once all of this goes on, I will be stripping the weapon and duracoating in a desert camo pattern. Can't wait!

Thanks!

OK, since I've been unable to keep up with the answers.....

Is my reasoning sound in that if the TWS peep sight is meant to work with standard AK front sights, then any of the AK gas block front sights meant for use with a standard rear sight would work, yes?

I know the old Krebs (which they don't make anymore) is an example of one which WON'T, since it uses new front and rear AR-style sights...

I'd suggest you go to the AK Sights/Optics sub-forum and check out whats been done there. Heck, you could even ask the creator of the TWS dog-leg if the TWS peep will work with alternate AK front sights.
Most people use an UltiMak to mount their red dots so that they co-witness the irons. I guess it all comes down to what you actually want out of a railed forearm, i.e. vert grip, lasers/lights or just a place to mount an optic.

IMO keep the Norinco as is for the "classic" look and get another to "tacticool". You could get something with a siderail mount already in place and expand your options.

Just my thoughts....

I have a Polytech Legend that fills the Classic role. She is the undisputed queen of my collection.
