If you remove the thumbhole, you will need both the pistol grip (with longer stock screw) and the stock...

Here's the stock alone.

You're welcome.

Technically if you remove the Thumbhole stock and put a regular stock on you will be altering it from a "sporting" configuration and will have to meet the parts count under 922r and you cannot put a Chinese standard stock on it unless you change other parts to meet the 10 or less count.

Some will say "don't worry about it, nobody has ever been prosecuted for it" so do what you'd like as long as you're making an informed decision.

I'll give a thumbs-up for Ironwood. I got the 74-style stock for a 5.45 AK, after finishing turned out very nice.

There is a guy in Sweden that sells Norinco blonde butt stocks on another board and on e-bay and gunbroker for 40.00 shipped to the US. I've seen pictures of them and it should match your Noricno hand guards really close if not perfect. I've bought one but haven't gotten it yet. His add's say 4 weeks or so for delivery. IMHO I'd stick with Chinese wood instead of IronWood or something else. Good luck and post pictures when you get it done.

Yep it's expensive all right, but where else you gonna find one? Just before they ran out, Keng's was charging fifty bucks per stock late 2009 IIRC. Only other option is to roll the dice on the Swedish connection I guess. Unless you want Ironwood, which isn't cheap either. Your last resort would be the EE, GB, AA, Gunboards or some such other site. But if it's posted cheap it'll disappear quickly .................

Swedish guy on ebay is good to go. I have bought 2 of these stocks from him and they are great. It does take 3-4 wks to get them but you will be very satisfied with the stock.

swedish guy ebay user name is "want4what". He sells different military surplus type items but does not always have listings posted. hit or miss if he will have any listed. Got both mine for around $50 each shipped. They are New condition. They match the norincos perfect.

His name's Jarmo. He's Finish, not Swedish. He had an ongoing sale on the AK Forum for stocks. I'd give him a try there. He occasionally sells them on GB and may still have an ongoing auction there but it'll be more expensive than buying it outright on the AK Forum.

Type-56 stocks

And before anyone asks, the stocks are the only Chinese parts he can get, or at least that was the case when i asked.

Old and ended thread but I will add I spoke to Matt at IWD a week ago and he is in the process of creating an exact replica of the chinese stock and HG's. The buttstock is ready for production and the HG's are coming soon. He does great work and would be a decent option especially with the fact that they are AMERICAN made!!!
