AMD-65 stock is hard to open and close

Hey guys,

Just got my first AK yesterday, a FEG AMD-65 from Centerfire. I am super impressed with the quality of the rifle overall. Two points worth mentioning though:

(1) the mag is really wobbly, side to side and front to back, with the supplied 20 round tapco. Anything I can do about that? I seemed to read that the tapco mags are generally bigger and tighter than many other mags, so is this probably as good as it gets? I haven't seen how it feels loaded and haven't shot it yet eaither, so right now, the observation is purely aesthetic.

(2) The folding stock is extremely tight. I know, I shouldn't be complaining, because when it is folded or extended, it feels great. However, it is almost impossible to depress the stock release button. I mean, I beat on it with a rubber mallet for a while and can finally depress it using both hands (and opening or closing the stock with my leg or face, not kidding). Will it loosen up at all? I sprayed some breakfree in the little area where I think the spring is located and I also left it sitting today with the stock in the "half-open" position so that spring would stay depressed. Any other ideas? If I had to extend the stock in an emergency, i wouldn't even need to use the rifle, people would just fall over laughing at me trying to work the thing.

Not to dwell on the negative though, the rifle looks great otherwise and I am dying to shoot it. Slapped some beech wood grips on from copes and it really dressed it up too.

Thanks again fellas!!

my amd from them had the same deal w/ the folder. i unscrewed the button and removed the latch. i cleaned it up w/ some 0000 steel whool and breakfree, then brushed out the slot that it goes in and re-installed. works alot smoother now. if you like it now , wait till you shoot it. they are awsome shooting rifles and loud too.
