Okay, so I was at a gun show and I found a gun that I didn' really want or need but, it seemed like a good deal. It is absolutely like new in the box with two mags, one of which was still in the original packing. The other didn't look like it had even been inserted into the mag well. It also came with a cable lock from KBI, the importer. Honestly, if they had told me this rifle was new I wouldn't even have questioned them. the markings on the box and the gun say that it is a F.E.G., SA2000M, made in Hungary. The importer is KBI of Harrisburg PA. It has one of those ugly skeletonized stocks and a rather large 4 hole flash suppressor. It also has a dimple on either side of the mag opening. The mags only hold 10 rounds each and are tapered, unlike any single stacks I have ever seen.
That is all I know about it. What i want to know is, can this be altered to take original AK style mags? Are the dimples there to prevent this? Will typical AK stocks fit on this rifle? I like the trigger that is in this rifle very much so will I have to change it to make it 922 compliant? If it is too much of a bother or too expensive to convert, is there a good source for mags for this rifle? I know you are dying to know, I paid $250 OTD.

I put 40 rounds through it on the way home and it worked great.

you didn't shoot any cars did you? LOL
the sa2000m receiver is what my amd-65's have on them. they are high-cap so they can be converted. you can also install standard furnature on it. great price for it by the way. good luck on the conversion and don't forget the pics.
Thanks Mays, I have done a little research in the meantime and it seem as if I did real well. There are two on gubroker right now, one that has been coverted and one not. The uncoverted one was started at $650. I don't know that it will sell but that is what he is asking. The converted one is going for $900. As for your question about shooting cars, only the ones with Mass plates on them.

No, I stopped at the range on the way home. What did it cost you convert yours to AMD 65 configuration and where can I get a kit?
they are the TGI built AMD's from centerfire, they are built on a SA2000M receiver.

The reason you got it for that price is the mags are scarce and the conversion to double-stack mags requires some mechanical aptitude and precise metal removal.
'they are high-cap so they can be converted'
If they were 'hi-cap' they wouldn't need to be converted.
'they are the TGI built AMD's from centerfire, they are built on a SA2000M receiver'
Some AMD-65 parts kits are built on a SA2000M receiver that has been modified to accept double stack magazines, but the gun in question is not an AMD-65 - it's a SA2000M imported as a whole, complete gun by KBI before FEG folded several years ago.
I don't think you have to do anything for 922 since the gun has already been legally imported. I would leave it alone and enjoy the excellent FEG quality and factory build.
I bought my SA200M in the ban era. After the sunset, I dreamed of finally converting it. So I did. I had the magwell machined, removed the spacer from the TG, and bought a tac mag release to replace the original. A Vltor tube and Stag M4 stock are in back. A Tapco G2 sits inside, while an Ultimak and Aimpoint ride over the hood. I steer it with an Ergo grip. It wasn't hard to convert. It was easier than a Romy build, and only slightly more complicated than a Saiga conversion.
Take off the training wheels. Convert it.

I had my SA2000M converted by Firing Line and just got it back today. I replaced the FCG with Tapco pieces and have a TimberSmith stock set for it. I've had this rifle for a while now and it's very nicely built but I couldn't leave it in that neutered condition.
Garrett, does your hungarian have a stock similar to the SVD/PSL stock? (1) or a "wire" stock ? (2)
1.
SVD/PSL
2.
AMD
