Wood or Plastic grips
The plastic grips are probably more durable/functional but I think I'm liking the look of the wood. David

Wood!
I've always liked the plastic. The wood looks too added on after the fact sort of thing to me.
Wood is twice as good!
Changing to wood will require the new longer bolt. After pricing the wood grips at around $25 each and about $15 each for a longer bolt, I just kept my ugly original non-wood grips.

Just buy a 2nd AMD, problem solved

I got a 4 pack of black oxide machine screws for under 9 dollars shipped. Quantity 1 is a package of 4 screws when you order. David

I switched out my plastic grips for wood and didn't have to do anything to the bolt. 1,000 rounds down the pipe with no problems.
I didn't like the feel of the plastic grips. They were "gummy." the wood feels better IMO.
If the rubber grips are gummy, clean them with WINDEX or SIMPLE GREEN rinse and resume fire.
Wood! (I was trying not to say "I like the wood".)

My TGI AMD65 has the plastic grips. They've grown on me, but I'd still like to get a set of rubber grips.
My AMD came with the gray plastic grips. The gun itself was in amazing shape aside from the grips. Mine are all nicked up and generally shitty.
I'm glad they are by far the worst part about the weapon because they are the easiest to change. But they definitely suck.

Yeah one of my plastic grips is chewed up on one side. That's one of the reasons I looked at the wood grips. I looked at the ergo and hogue grips but trying to find something for the front made me look at the wood grips. I didn't care for the Ironwood grips because they did not have the metal support around the top of the grips. David
Is the front grip just a rear grip turned around?

I got mine off the EE, took about a month of checking everyday before some came for sale. TGI has
THESE that I was looking at to make up a compliance part. David

Thanks for that link, I ordered a set last night and don't even have my AMD in hand yet. I'm just sure that mine will have plastic grips that are not as nice as these. If it does happen to come with some nice wood grips, I need another set for another project I'm working on anyway.

so if you get the us TGI grips does it count as one or two us parts? would the front grip be considered part of the lower HG? just curious.

I'm pretty sure it only counts as 1 US part. The front grip doesn't count, but it would be nice if it did!
