 My homemade AMD-65 cheek piece

Here are some pics of my cheek piece for my AMD-65. I used nylon cord wrapped around the stock and covered with a piece of pipe foam insulation. The whole thing was then wrapped in suede and stitched at the bottom. It doesn't look as good as the other cheek piece shown in an earlier thread but the whole project cost me $10 and gives me a nice comfy cheek weld.

Lots of looks and no responses, I don't know if that's good or bad.

Next time stitch it the wrong side out, then flip it inside out to hide the stitches and present a cleaner look, as well as reducing the fraying of the exposed edge.

While I appreciate the ingenuity and resourcefulness behing putting on a cheek weld, I don't see the point on an AK. AKs are meant for nasty, street level, house-to-house fighting, not precision marksmanship and getting a good sight picture. If you're not firing from the hip, what's the point? ha ha

Thanks for the tip I wish I had thought of that myself.

After a couple fifths of vodka I find a good cheek weld helps me access the 37 bullseyes dancing in front of me and don't even get me started on the zombies, lol.

I actutally agree, outside of the sight picture comment. By the way shooting from the hip is a blast. I didnt buy this weapon for its accuracy I was more intrigued with its reliability. With that being said I must say it's a hell of a lot more accurate than people give it credit for.

With regards to the homemade cheek weld, I give you an A for effort.

I was powdering red bricks at 50yds earlier this week with my AMD-65. Plenty accurate for that.

It continues to amaze me that the little AMD-65 has as little recoil as it does, and my friends are always amazed at the noise and flame of the muzzle break. Good times...

Cheers!
